The Orb is a unique device protected by patents GB 2,353,206 & US 6,764,051.  The original purpose was to create a new type of Automated Lighting yoke that brought together two previously distinct movement methods, moving yoke where the movement of the held object typically describes an arc and the moving mirror technique where the movement describes a straight line.  The Orb can create movements in both those ways and many other continuous movements as well.  It is has subsequently become apparent that the Orb has applications far wider than that of Entertainment Lighting.
